Polyurea Marine Coatings exhibit superior weathering, corrosion and abrasion resistance properties. Other favourable characteristics such as high elongation, resistance to microbial attack and mould growth make polyurea well suited to many marine coating applications.

Typical specifications call for high build epoxy. Whilst epoxy has some great properties, it has inherent flaws which limit their application suitability. Epoxy has no elongation therefore cracks when the substrate moves. It also becomes brittle over time, flaking and peeling away from the substrate. Epoxy is sensitive to moisture and temperature which impede the cross linking reaction preventing the full physical properties from being achieved. Inseals' polyurea does not suffer from either of the above weaknesses, polyurea remains permanently elastomeric and can cure at temperatures well below zero degrees. It is resistant to repeated impact and abrasive environments, you'd be hard pressed to find a liquid applied membrane that is as durable as our polyurea.

Another major advantage of using our polyurea is it's rapid cure nature. P90 polyurea gels after 8-10 seconds and obtains up to 99% cure within the first hour. The membrane can be walked on and exposed to water after minutes of being applied. The membrane is built to the desired thickness in one process, it does not require long downtime waiting for intermediate coats to cure.

The use of pure polyurea has grown worldwide to many fields of application. In recent years polyurea has been used to line the hulls of marine vessels. Due to its smooth, glossy finish and high crosslinking nature, sea life such as barnacles find difficulty in bonding to the membrane. Inseals' polyureas are what we term 100% solids, it contains no solvents or VOC's so does not leach out in the water. P90 polyurea has over 10 years history in permanent immersion applications including potable water, waste water, chemical containment and desalination facilities.

Polyurea requires specialist equipment and skilled persons to apply the membrane, it is not a 'DIY' product that can be applied by brush.
